It does not work at all. The grill has a 60 minute timer and it takes 60 minutes to "heat up", I'm trying to grill two stakes and I'm on the first flip after 1:30 hours, and Im ordering pizza, because it's going to be a very long wait for the stake to be done, hopefully...

They make a bbq brush that looks solid but the handle is not well secured and the brush broke in half. Now we have to send it to the landfill. So much for “quality” made in america. Looks like it was made in the third world to purposefully break after 1 year so you buy another one. Fake branding use of “castings”. Call yourself something else and sell at Dollar General.

We have been running the "Intrepid II" for about 27 years, overhauling it ourselves. It may not be big enough for a big house in the U.S., but here in Japan it's just the right size, and it's warm enough to relax in just a short-sleeved T-shirt even in the cold winter. It's a shame that repair parts are becoming harder to come by.

We bought a beautiful enameled Defiant. A little over seven thousand dollars of woodstove. Waited for it to be ordered and delivered....which took forever by the way. The company installed it beautifully. The company we use, is awesome, always have been. We have bought both of our wood stoves from them. They come out and do yearly maintenance. We have had them out three times for this Vermont Castings stove. This is the worst stove I have ever operated. It drafts beautifully. The catalyst is terrible. It chokes out your fire. Causes creosote! Ummmm isn't that what it's not supposed to do? The worst part...it doesn't last 6 hours with a full load! This was the only reason I bought this thing. I wake up every morning and have to start the stove again. Some days we have some embers in the ash but not a bed worth. The company has been out three times, I paid for one visit. They took care of the rest. There is a problem with this stove. It operates poorly. Do yourself a favor and buy a stove without a catalyst. Quadrafire!! Aarrggggg

Mildly disappointed with the VC Defiant wood Stove, there are perks to the top loader but a number of issues. 1.) the Oval stove pipe adapter that they make which is needed to attach a regular stove pipe does not seal or fit well. When I spoke with the installed regarding this, he mentioned using fiberglass gasket to fill in around it. This did work to stop the constant rushing/whistling noise bit dens do not look good and will have to be reset every time a maintenance the chimney. For a $4500+ stove this is disappointing 2.) The rear access plate for the CAT in the rear of the stove has a tendency to fall off on occasion, more so if we use the top loader, while we try not to hit the plate by placing the wood in slowly it still comes off. (Friends warned us of this shortly after we purchased) 3.) Burn Tip If you still purchase (never empty the ash pan accept after burning season, system burns significantly more stable with it full, and only empty some of the ash out form the actual chamber 4.) If you have a 40 ft chimney you may want to add a draft on the stovepipe as well, even if you turn it all the way down it will overburn and destroy the CAT 5.) Just had the handle for the cat/ flue fall off, I went to re add it but realized it was cross threaded when installed and wont go back on 6.) The Cats that come with the stove are incased in a thin cheep layer of steel, Ive run this on low since we got the stove and it still warped (there are apparently entire forums with people frustrated with this issue" they are $168 to replace, and they warp within a month) Aparently they used to be made better and would last 3-5 years that is down to monthes Overall, our experience has been that this unit is on the temperamental side, and after reading multiple forums and talking to multiple 3rd party installers they have recommended other brands. According to one installer VT casting used to be the king of the wood stove industry, but after around 10 buyouts in recent years have gone downhill and other have surpassed them. 12/15 I have changed the review to 1 star as I went home and more issues popped up. I love the brand and what they used to stand for but they suck now.
