Having just moved to Maryland from South Florida I was uneducated on how to safely start a fire inside my home. Not only was I able to find a great set of tools for my fireplace I was also provided with information on what I needed and how to get started without burning my house down or filling it up with smoke. Bill was friendly and helpful throughout my visit and it was a pleasure shopping there. Definitely recommend The Fireplace Shop for your fireplace related needs!

My husband and I had a great experience working with Dan to pick out a grate for our firepace. Dan provided us with outstanding customer service. He was friendly, informative, and a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely be back.

I was helped by the owner and shared with him a detailed list of supplies I needed for my stove. He collected the items and I bought them. A couple of the items were not the same as the ones on my list, and when I went in to return them he refused to refund $22 for one of the items because he said he had to cut it from a roll. Which I would accept, however what he sold me was not what was on the list. They also charge a 10% "restocking fee" for returns. Restocking fee??? Are you serious? I should be able to charge him for my time wasted and for the gas I used to go to his store twice, when the owner was the one who sold the wrong product! He obviously does not subscribe to the "repeat customer" business model. For $22 he lost any future business from me, but gained a negative reference forever. Fortunately I was able to buy the right one online for a third of the price.

I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend and the customer service was poor from the beginning. I had to email them twice to get even an initial response about whether they could convert a two-sided fireplace to gas. When I called the number emailed to me to schedule an estimate, the person who answered the phone tried to send me to a different department. Then someone else came on the line to schedule the appointment. The earliest appointment I could get any day, I was told, was 10 a.m. So, I took time off from work to be there at 10 a.m. on a weekday. At 10:15 I called because no one had shown up. I was told (again) to call somewhere else. When I said no, this was the right number, the person checked and then told me the salesperson was on his way and would be there momentarily. A few minutes later, I got another call saying someone was supposed to have contacted me the day before to let me know the salesperson was very ill and couldn't make it. When I said, "You've got to be kidding me, I took time off from work for this," the person on the phone asked sarcastically if i wanted him to call the very ill person to see if he could make it to my house even though he was ill. Obviously, I'll be going elsewhere.

My wife and I were out shopping for gas logs to have installed in our fireplace. We walked into their showroom, after a few minutes a man came from the back and asked if he could help us. I told him we were looking for gas logs to be installed in our brick fireplace. With an attitude he walked over to the sales counter and threw a sales brochure on the counter as if we were bothering him (my wife and I just looked at each other). I started to ask questions about the gas logs and the installation when he cut me off and rudely said he wasn’t a plumber. When I asked him what brands he sold he abruptly flipped over the brochure and started poked at the back label. I looked at my wife and she said let’s get out of here. I told the sales guy he was very rude, and we would shop someplace else and walked out. We purchased from their competitor
