  We had an issue with our 70 year old chimney at our cabin and needed some work done. Portland Fireplace and Chimney extensively reviewed and made recommendations. They provided us many options we selected a few. They delivered on time and our chimney looks and works beautifully. I would highly recommend them to anyone! Pleasure working with such great crews.

  I just finished my first inspection and cleaning appointment with Mike Keller. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, taking the time to walk me through every step of using and maintaining my woodstove insert. It is very evident that he’s an expert in this field, but he did an excellent job at explaining things in a way that was very easy to follow and understand. Sometimes having a new technician over to the house can be stressful but he put me at ease with his laid back and friendly demeanor. Prior to the service itself, I worked with Melody over phone and email. She was very thorough as well, clearly explaining the process and cost upfront. She was very communicative via phone and even reached out with a cancellation to get me booked sooner. All in all, from scheduling through service, I am very glad I chose to work with Portland Fireplace and Chimney!

  Contacted Portland Fireplace and Chimney to get a good chimney sweeping of our two-story hearth and information on how the system is doing. It is a family home where the hearth has seen safe fires for over a half century. Mike came to our home yesterday, and I had to assertively cajole him to sweep the one fireplace at all. Even then he didn't get on the roof and sweep the chimney from above. Mike did use a vacuum for about fifteen minutes from below on only one of the fireplaces. Therefore, after paying $658 I have only one fireplace that Mike said he cleaned. Yet, he also did not take any photos of that fireplace. Thus, I do not have before and after evidence of what he even did. Even though I asked Mike to do so, he didn't even clean the other fireplace. Mike spent the majority of the time trying to get me to pay him more money to retile our floors such that he wouldn't have to write us a bad report. This is even though Mike gave no rationale as to why we needed to get thousands of dollars of work done for a system that for half a century has worked just fine. I was seriously shocked at how blatant the conflict of interest came across for this so-called inspector. Frankly, after this experience, I wouldn't trust anything Mike of Portland Fireplace and Chimney put into a report anyway. I would like a refund of the money paid to this place, such that I can hire true professionals to work with us on making sure our fireplace system is as safe as possible.

From Mike's diagnosis of the leak near my chimney to Jay and Brandon doing a thorough job, keeping me informed, and catching an additional issue that would eventually become a problem... I am very satisfied, recommending this company.
