When, as of this writing, 100% of this company’s most recent google reviews are all 1 star ratings, I believe that one should hesitate before considering doing business with them … While it's nice that this company has been around a while and won some accolades perhaps long ago, what matters is how they handle business and treat customers...NOW. To me, it's important how well a company can communicate and also how well they can be relied upon to solve an issue if it comes up later. As manager of a company that builds resort-like estate homes around Lake County, I reached out to The Outdoor Kitchen Guy after responding to an ad they paid for on Facebook. Their reply seemed mostly about "...will do the job if it makes financial sense" (why wouldn't it ? we have many such homes and are building out luxury outdoor kitchens-- that's what you sell1!? )-- Anyway, it seemed like a canned response and it asked me to go complete a questionnaire first via a link provided. However, the link didn't work. I screenshot the resulting error message and sent it to The Outdoor Kitchen Guy. Days later, no reply. I followed up. No reply. I posted a review. He replied IMMEDIATELY w/ a good explanation of what happened, apologizing, and offering to come bid the first job w/ us at 4pm today. We confirmed scheduled part of our work day and team around it. 4pm came and went 1/2 hour ago and no one has shown up or responded to our attempts to contact them. How could we possibly trust such a company to do the job even if they apologize again and reschedule now ?!

I cannot in good conscience recommend Outdoor Kitchen Guy to anyone. What was outlined to be a 12–14 week project took 50 weeks—an unacceptable timeline by any standard. From start to finish, the process was riddled with missteps and an alarming lack of urgency: • We received an incorrect cabinet that had to be reordered, delaying the project. • The wrong grill hood cover was shipped, adding to the delays. • Cabinet side panels were left out of the original install and had to be ordered later. • Two refrigerators arrived non-functional (refrigerator model recommended by the Outdoor Kitchen Guy), highlighting serious quality control issues. To make matters worse, we had to initiate a change order to receive an improved model. • There was a clear lack of urgency in handling our refrigerator change request even after the problems were reported. • Their logistics were incredibly inefficient. Items were shipped to a warehouse, then arrangements were made to ship to our home, then installation would installation be scheduled. There was no proactive logistical planning to schedule each of these ahead of time AND it took days to weeks between each one of these steps. Yes, "and" for each of the items outline above as well. Outdoor Kitchen Guy deflected blame onto shipping times. However, many of the issues we experienced—incorrect items, missing components, wrong refrigerator model recommendation and lack of coordination—were entirely within their control. This has been a major disappointment in terms of both project management and customer service. 6/29/25 update: I am responding to the Outdoor Kitchen Guy response to my original posting: I appreciate that you’ve finally acknowledged mistakes were made—but it’s frustrating that it took a public review to receive even that. Throughout our experience, we sent numerous emails, texts, and had multiple phone calls expressing our concerns and disappointment. To now act as if this is the first time you’re hearing about the issues is both disingenuous and frankly insulting. What’s more disheartening is that, despite the prolonged delays and repeated missteps, we’ve never received a formal apology or any offer of compensation for the 50 week project. A sincere commitment to customer care would have included proactive accountability long before this review was written. 6/30/25 Update: Outdoor Kitchen Guy has removed their original response to this review. In that response, they clearly acknowledged logistical failures and recognized our frustration. Now, with that response removed, they are trying to shift the narrative. Items in this review are based entirely on the facts of our experience: • They claim the project was fully operational in 19 weeks. Our experience was that 2 refrigerators would not hold a temp (rising as high as 49 degrees). 1st one was installed at week 30 - just before the Super Bowl. We were embarrassed at our super bowl party because our drinks were not cold. Installing equipment that doesn’t work right away doesn’t mean the job is finished. • They claim I asked for a free refrigerator upgrade. I asked them to cover the price difference between the original unit ($2,300) and the upgraded model ($4,500—not $5,000 as they claim). No discount was offered. • They say they worked with urgency. The project was promised in 12–14 weeks and took 50 weeks. You decide for yourself. • They say they reached out and that I refused to discuss my concerns. The owner returned "my" voice message. His first words were: “What is going on?”—a surprising question after months of delays. When I explained the refrigerator issue, he brought up expected variance but couldn’t even tell me what the acceptable range was for the model we had. No company is perfect—but how a company handles problems is what really defines their professionalism.

The outdoor kitchen guy started the project on deposit. I send him the second draw he cashed the check and never heard from him again. He ghosted me never returned calls or showed up to finish the project.

I have known Jason for a couple of years now and his commitment to getting things done right is utmost in their business. He has not yet installed an outdoor kitchen for me but after talking to him at length, I have seen his dedication to quality and will choose The Outdoor Kitchen for that install!

The team at Outdoor Kitchen Guy is what makes the experience. Jean is organized, detail-oriented, and a clear and compassionate communicator — rarities in the home renovation world. I would highly recommend working with this team.
