  John serviced two gas stove furnaces I have in my house. John is very experienced and knowledgeable after having done this type of work for many years. He was familiar with the different brands of furnaces I have. He thoroughly cleaned the units and performed maintenance on them that was sorely needed. He also helped me diagnose some odd glitches I was experiencing immediately after seeing the units. I will use John for routine maintenance going forward and for any troubleshooting should I experience any problems with the units. I highly recommend John and appreciate him setting up shop in town. My experience with other gas stove companies in the area did not leave me wanting to use them again going forward. John was a welcomed change for this type of work.

  John put in a new gas fireplace where I had a classic wood chimney. He did an amazing, professional job at a very reasonable price considering his level of expertise. It was installed 7 years ago and I’ve had no issues at all. He comes periodically to keep it clean and shiny. I have been amazed how well it heats my whole house. It has been a huge improvement in our quality of life in winter months. And I love just pressing a button to turn it on! Highly recommend.

  I contacted John to take a look at the open-hearth fireplace and chimney in a family home in Madison County that I inherited in 2016, and hadn’t been inspected and serviced perhaps since having been built in 1960. The damper was stuck such that building a fire would make the living room smoky while failing to heat it. John fixed that. John’s expertise and longevity in the field was evident in how he recognized some “heatilator” vents in vogue in the 60s that are no longer used, as they are risky rather than energy-efficient. After cleaning and repairing the chimney, which was allowing water intrusion into the roof, and plugging up the vents, he installed an EPA-compliant high-efficiency wood stove that pumps out heat while using very little fuel. He also sealed another vent that was allowing leaks into the kitchen. 6 years later, everything is still working great! John obviously takes great care and pride in doing top-quality work with a very thoughtful, conscientious and comprehensive approach, emphasizing safety and functionality rather than selling gimmickry.   John spent extra time on his standard service call to figure out what's really wrong. For this old gas fp a minor adjustment helped, but when the old part finally dies I'll definitely call Nicholas Gas Fireplace to install a new part. Also, John is a very pleasant fellow as well as being expert in what he does.
