  We purchased a fireplace from Kerns 8 years ago and had a wonderful experience. We returned a few months ago to purchase units for our new house, expecting the same great experience. What a disappointment. They were more than happy to sell us two units but their financial policy is now far from transparent. We paid their installer, which was way more than they estimated, chalking it up to lesson learned. We should have contacted him directly before the work was done. The next day we were hit with another bill from Kerns, for over $1300 dollars! When we called to ask them about this they casually mentioned that you should double the price of the units and that is what the fireplace ends up costing all said and done. This would have been nice to know upfront. Never again. Go to Leipsic Hardware which may seem more expensive up front, but they won't hit you with costs on the back end.

  I had an pellet stove installed they charge you for everything, horrible experience only could use their installer, had issues since day one not working properly, after 5 visits they finally replaced the pellet stove with a new one, installer had to go through the roof and had leaks around the pipe 4 visits with them. I’ll say this go look at other companies I’ve used another company in Mass. when I lived there and the service was top notch.

  Called to ask for a quote for a wood burning fireplace install. They stated they work with an independent installer and I would need to pick a unit out. With wood fireplaces, clearances are key for safety, so I wanted the installer to come out and give me options. They said I would need to pick one out first. How can I pick something out if I am unsure if it will work. Weird way of doing business.

  Good luck getting a service appointment. They will string you along for weeks with a new excuse everyday on why they can’t make their set appointment. Don’t waste your time.

  They easily sell you products, bought fireplace logs from them in November 2023. Come this fall had trouble with them, called to have them come out for service, they told us they couldn't service us till February. Had to get service else where, but they won't service us last year if we hadn't bought those logs there. Won't recommend because of service after they sell is poor well no service !
