We purchased a Mendota fireplace from Fireplace Editions three years ago. It is in need of a repair estimated at around $1,000. I called the store last week to order a part needed for the repair and to inquire about the warranty. Dann took my call and directed me to Katie for the part order. I then asked him if he was the right person to discuss the warranty with. In response, Dann exploded into a rant, telling me that my small worry about a part paled in comparison to the many customers in need of his attention. I chose not to respond and simply redirected my query with one of the many other Mendota distributors in the Triangle area. After a quick search, I was surprised to find out that Dann is the co-owner of Fireplace Editions. It’s hard to believe that a business owner would choose to treat a customer the way Dann treated me last week. “Rude” doesn’t begin to describe the rage into which my benign question sent him. The one star is unfortunately needed in order to post a review. It is generous considering the dismal level of service I received.

We were looking for a woodstove, and after speaking with Katie of Fireplace Editions on the phone, I knew this was the right company for us. She gave us unlimited tips to consider helping us choose the best wood stove for our needs, including our decor. Upon visiting the business, there were many beautiful options. We also learned about picking a wood stove with a range that would provide enough heat for our home and also not be too hot for the area in which it was going to reside. After we sent home-specific information to Dann, he provided us a quote in a timely fashion. The cost was very reasonable. We haven't moved forward with Fireplace Editions yet because of other pressing priorities; however, when we decide to move forward, it will be with this company. They have shown themselves to be trustworthy from the start. Thank you, Katie and Dann!

Terrible customer service. Find someone else to order from. I ignored other bad reviews bc I am a lifetime friend of a long time employee and I wanted to support a local business. They were very responsive until the order was placed. Then I was ignored (I sent 3 emails over 3 months with no response) until it was time for delivery when they called me to collect the balance on the order (that was already paid in full). Then there was an issue at installation with the shroud/surround not fully covering the fireplace opening. I emailed after hours and I received immediate responses essentially telling me it was my problem to fix at additional cost. Which I will happily do rather than deal with these guys again. Bad communication at best, bad business practices for sure.

Fireplace Editions offers excellent installation. But they don’t service what they sell! I have a beautiful gas heater stove that started acting up in its second year. Fireplace Editions said they had so many installs that they couldn’t be bothered to stand behind their products, so they referred me to a guy who had no idea how to service my stove. I was stuck w a $5000 piece of art, because eventually it wouldn’t even light. I’m happy to say I found a knowledgeable, reputable place in Raleigh and now my stove is working. No thanks to Fireplace Editions. Sorry to leave this review, but these stoves are expensive, and when the dealer turns their back on you, it’s hard.

We were in need of a wood stove upgrade as we had grown tired of fighting our 30+ old one every year. Nothing really functionally wrong...just wanted something better and more efficient. Purchased from Fireplace Editions and have absolutely no regrets. From getting an estimate (and finding out about tax incentives) to ordering to arranging pickup, the whole process went really smoothly. There was a minor manufacturing defect with our stove and the team worked with us to get out and fix the issue without hesitation. Would definitely recommend Fireplace Editions if you are in the market for a new stove.
