My mother and I bought gas fireplaces from Jack. He seemed great, trying not to put any pressure on us. I bought 2 fireplaces and had one installed for my mom, by them, and I had mine installed out of town. The fireplaces wernt blowing out heat, like they did in the showroom. I called and was told I had to purchase the blower unit separately. Wasn't told that at time of the purchase. Been on backorder for a year. Now 2 years later the remote won't work and because of this review I was hung up on.

I chose Fashionable Fireplaces to replace my parents' wood-burning fireplace with a gas insert, and my experience was very positive. When I visited their showroom, and told Jack that I had only just started looking at options, he helped me narrow down what I needed, and showed me what he had on offer that fit. He was pleasant to deal with, and most importantly, did not try to sell me on something big and fancy after I told him that's not what I was looking for. Nor was there any pressure when I said I wanted to continue looking. I did visit other showrooms in the area, and they were all a lot more formal, and a lot more focussed on the sale. I am not saying they or their products were poor - quite the opposite. But I went back to Fashionable Fireplaces because of their no-nonsense, practical approach. "Here's what we have, here's when we can get it to you, here's what it will cost at the end." And that is the approach that appealed to me. When the time for the install came, Melissa in the office called us with a clear time-frame, and made sure we were ready. John and his crew, who did the actual install, were respectful of the space, making sure they cleaned up any mess, and working around some less-than-mobile seniors. He was unflappable when faced with a few obstacles (like our very reluctant flue), and everything was achieved with a minimum of fuss. The team's quirkiness might put some people off (it is a family business and families are quirky), but I would not hesitate to recommend them to someone looking to have a similar installation. We even asked him back to do some repair on our chimney crown. In my experience, they were dependable, knowledgable, practical, and down-to-earth.

Working with Fashionable Fireplaces was the worst decision I have made. The customer service was terrible. All we needed was an annual cleaning of our unit and after the cleaning, they left a wire undone; I understand mistakes happen but I was told to diagnose the issue on my own and fix the problem on my own, or they mentioned "we do have a sale right now on new fireplaces"... I was able to fix their issue and did not need a new fireplace... All they had to do was take a look at the work that was done and it could have been rectified in minutes most likely. They were not helpful throughout the process and when I mentioned that to them, they said "it's fine you're not happy with our service". There are way too many local companies that do what they do to ever go back to them. I would highly recommend NOT using this company.

I ended up at this place because I searched a particular brand of stove pipe and the internet sent me there. I met the owner, Jack, who spent at least an hour of his time with me, explaining how wood stoves work and going over all the details of the ICC Excel stove and chimney pipe systems. Since I told him I was going to do the installation myself, he spent a lot of time going over each piece and part I would need and telling me how much it would all cost. He also gave me a great price on everything, beating another area wood stove store by almost $1,000. It's also worth mentioning that his son came out on the showroom floor to further explain how everything went together because he had done it many times before, and their receptionist was also cheerful and helpful every time I called there, which was several times over the course of the project. Jack is an example of how business owners used to be and other businesses should follow his example. I don't often post reviews, especially positive ones, but this place deserves a good review and I would definitely recommend them based on my experience there. I did the installation myself and it came out great so I can't vouch for their installation crew, but when it comes to treating a customer right, they did everything they were supposed to.

Small mom and pop shop, that does a good job cleaning. When it comes to fixing fireplaces, this is where their experience is challenged. Instead of telling us they did not know how to fix a Heat n Glo unit, they spoke incredibly unprofessionally about Fireplace Fashions service capabilities where we purchased the unit, and all Heat n Glo units. This should have been our red flag. The only reason we called Fashionable Fireplaces was because they could clean our fireplace faster. After paying Fashionable Fireplaces for multiple visits, the unit was still not working. They told us it was because the unit was old. All untruths. We went back to Fireplace Fashions (where we should have stayed), and not only did they educate my husband on how to fix the problem; when we asked if we should purchase a new unit, they said "Absolutely not. Your unit will last for many years to come." Moral of the story-We would have been better off to wait for the professionals that are experienced to work on the fireplace we have. BUYER BEWARE!
