Tried to buy a Jotul 445 which they said was in stock. Negotiating a fairly simple delivery became a challenge so I bought it from a dealer in Ithaca and they were more than happy to deliver it. F445 is a beautiful stove. Fortunately we have options.

Submitted a request online for possible service. Jen called back stating that they didn't service my type of gas fireplace, but recommend a company that does. Nice that they contacted me knowing there was nothing in it for them money wise.

We hired Cricket on the Hearth to install a chimney top flue cap and a glass door and screen assembly. One door hangs properly. The hinge on the other is canted so that it does not stay open (see photo). The representative who installed it was dismissive of this problem, claiming that it was my problem because that is how the fireplace was built. That might have been more convincing if I had installed it DYI, but they could have identified the issue when they came out to measure and survey the site conditions before quoting. The company later promised to look into it but never followed up. Separate from that problem, other components of the door hardware were installed improperly. With some time and effort I was able to adjust them. And one of the mounts pulled the fire block out of the inner surface of the fireplace. We had to have this repaired by a mason. (See photo, showing the new mortar.) The assembly is attractive and has otherwise served its purpose, but I can't say much for the service, follow through or customer care in this business. We are quite satisfied with the chimney top flue damper.

Staff were very helpful with ordering fireplace doors. We love the look and quality, they came quickly and prices were fair. We even had a defect in the glass and the store helped us get replacement glass from the manufacturer, also came very quickly. Had a great experience all around!

So easy, staff is very friendly. I felt like we've known them for years. Finally bought our new free standing gas fireplace at a price I was very comfortable with. We shopped around and they had exactly what we were looking for. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
