This company doesn’t even want business, avoid I called after I was referred to them by another chimney company, who worked with them in the past and said they did similar projects. Rather than provide them business, I was stopped by the woman who answered the phone. She was rude, wouldn’t listen to what I needed to have done, and she stopped to correct me on the pronunciation of a name. She told me they don’t do what I was looking for even though their website says they do, and the referral. So what is the point. In the end I got a 3rd chimney company, who gladly accepted the business and told me that’s what they do everyday, even provided me reference photos of other projects of the exact same work. I told them the story how my business was turned away here and they kind of just snickered. So I don’t know if there is a known reputation. But I am relieved the woman was actually so difficult, because I think she saved me from a major source of headaches and frustration. My problem can actually be fixed now, because another company took the time to understand what needed to be done, asked for photos and description before coming out. It’s shocking.

Black Hat had to remove my existing chimney and install a new one. This required (l) demolition and removal of the existing chimney (2) rebuild of the chimney and (3) new mortar, new cultured stone and a cap on the replacement. The workmanship, attention to detail, timeliness, and the ability to answer all my on going questions was great customer care. The project took as long (8 days) as projected. No changes or surprises. I would gladly recommend Black Hat to anyone needing a chimney repair or replacement. The Black Hat crew was great!!

What an obnoxious experience. I called this summer to book a chimney cleaning. We booked it, they cancelled before the cleaning. Never reschedule. Now I called to rebook and there are full for the 2025 season. Despite me telling them this, best they can do is add me if someone cancels. They are too busy for you and me. Call elsewhere.

Just had a gas heater installed a couple days ago to replace an old ventless one that was already in the house when I bought it. They did an amazing job inside and out and finished in a little less than the amount of time they advised. I would definitely recommend them.

A policy of charging a customer 178 dollars to come out for 15 minutes and say they can not help you in any way shape or form is a tough pill to swallow. In all fairness they did explain to me they would charge me for coming out but I was hoping for a little more than nothing. It was kind of laughable to suggest they would return the 178 dollars if I purchased a brand new fireplace with them. Felt like extortion, take from that what you will. Thanks for the quick response Bob, not sure what my family or not knowing that you were coming has to do with your service levels. Anyways a one star review probably means I will not be going with your company in the future or be recommending you to others. Thanks again though.
