The purchasing process was fine- everything after that has been a disaster. Unit installed nov ‘21- has been leaking black soot on the walls. Called builder- he adjusted it. Black soot continued. Called Advantage fireplace fall ‘21, told me a 4 month wait for service, but would be covered under 1 year warranty because I called within that window. 2 days before service appt they tell Me they “didnt notice in the paperwork sooner,” that they are not responsible for the unit- as they sold it to my builder. A contractor. So now 2 months after my warranty is up? Seems fishy they waited. So- as I imagine my scenarios is the common one, this is a gigantic scam of a service. As opposed to a contractor installing a unit- it seems Advantage fireplace ONLY services their unit if they installed it themselves within one year. HOWEVER- when you go to pickout a unit, they ask which contractor you are working with and immediately put it through them, so they sell the contractor your fireplace and they can wash their hands of any responsibility. UNKNOWN TO THE HOMEOWNER. Watch out for this place- total scam system in place. Reaching out to BBB, Haverhill city Hall, and channel 5 news.

To all home owners buying through a contractor ..... STAY AWAY FAR FAR AWAY from this company they do not stand behind their product. They put the warranty on the contractor. Some contractors have "tail light" warranty's and Advantage Fireplace will not come out and repair their own install transgressions. My fireplace was installed three months ago and I have rusting exterior screws and a vent that was installed that allows for howling wind noise in my living room. I have emailed the owner Guyelaine and she refused to stand behind her product. Stay away I wish I had, there are so many other more reputable companies out there to choice from, do your research.

4 stars only because the unit I ultimately ordered did not fit. Which with a measure 3x and cut once philosophy may have been prevented (my firebox is not a standard rectangle shape but instead slopes inward-built in 1939) and I was unable to cut out flooring to include a non-combustible hearth area so needed to raise the unit 4”). But, on the plus side the company and installer did everything they could to work with me to try and make something work, and even pointed out a possible safety issue in the process. When it was all said and done the owner, Guylaine, was amicable and understanding and fully refunded my deposit. A special shout out to Krystal. She was fun to work with in selecting options in the store and extremely knowledgeable on what would and would not work with what I was trying to do. A note, they do not sell direct to consumer, so your builder/contractor must be involved. As a result, just make sure you’re aware of where responsibility lies for things.
